To help treatment of COVID-19 patients, 21 Covid care isolation coaches have been provided by the Northeast Frontier Railway at the Guwahati Railway Station, informed an NF Railway official.
NFR CPRO Subhanan Chanda said that the isolation coaches are equipped with essential medical provisions.
Meanwhile, at Badarpur near Silchar in Assam 20 other rail coaches have been provided to work as COVID care centres. The coaches are ready with 350 oxygen beds.
Previously, 19 isolation coaches were placed at Sabarmati, Chandlodiya and Dimapur.
The Assam government on Wednesday requested the NFR to prepare 150 COVID care coaches for different locations across Assam.
Around 4,000 isolation coaches having 64,000 beds are being made ready to serve as isolation units across the states, by the Railways.
