One person was apprehended by Tinsukia Police in connection with the Tingrai Bazar grenade blast case on May 14.

The apprehended has been recognized as Dipen Saikia. Saikia was arrested from the Tamuli Bongaon area in Digboi.

A police official said, “We have arrested one person in connection with Tingrai Bazar grenade blast case today. Our investigation is on”.

A photo of two miscreants on motorcycle was released by the Tinukia police, who lobbed the grenade in front of a hardware shop in Tingrai Bazar.

A cash reward of Rs 2 lakh was announced on any information about the motorcycle-borne miscreants by the Tinsukia Police.

Sanjit Singh (25) and Surajit Talukdar (22), both residents of the Tingrai area were killed and two others were severely injured in the grenade blast on Friday afternoon.

The Assam government has declared ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the victims’ family.
