After being closed for several months due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the monsoon season, the Orang National Park (ONP) in Assam will reopen to tourists on Thursday. Orang National Park in Darrang district, on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River, will reopen to visitors with strict COVID-19 protocols.
“Orang National Park will be open for visitors beginning September 30, 2021, in accordance with all COVID-19 protocol and safety guidelines for the coming tourist season of 2021-22 until further order,” according to a notification.
Due to the poor condition of the roads in Assam as a result of recent floods, only a portion of the safari route within the park will be open to tourists at this time. The remaining section of the road is being repaired, and visitors will be notified as soon as possible, according to a forest official.
