At Hailakandi counting centre, Assam, one reserved unused electronic voting machine (EVM) was found inside a trunk on Saturday evening, official sources said. 

District election officer, Megh Nidhi Dahal reached the spot and started an inquiry along with returning officers. The contesting candidates reached the spot too. 

The unused EVM inside the trunk was a reserved one without any votes polled on the machine. The machine was opened before the contesting candidates. 

The EVM was shifted to the EVM warehouse adjacent to the Deputy Commissioner’s premises.
