A 15-day lockdown might be imposed by the newly formed state government from Wednesday due to surge in COVID-19 cases in Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hold the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government at 6 pm on Tuesday.
According to sources, call for a lockdown is most likely to be made at the cabinet meeting to curb the second wave of the virus.
Chief Minister Sarma indicated to take some strict measures regarding COVID situation in the state, on Tuesday.
In a tweet he said, “I visited GMCH and along with Pr Secy Health, Guwahati Police Commissioner, DC Kamrup and other health officials, discussed strict measures that need to be deployed over the next 15 days to contain COVID-19. In view of escalating cases, we need tough measures”.
