Assam: Rajiv Gandhi’s name removed from Orang National Park

The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, removed Rajiv Gandhi’s (former Prime Minister) name from the Orang National Park on Wednesday.

While sharing the Assam Cabinet’s decisions, chief minister Sarmna tweeted, “Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park to be renamed Orang National Park, taking cognizance of the demands of Adivasi and tea tribe communities.”

The Cabinet also decided to appoint sportspersons Jamuna Boro, a boxing champion, and Sanjay Boro, an archery champion, as Excise Inspectors.
