All “Taliban supporters” in Assam, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, are under police surveillance. This declaration by Assam’s chief minister comes only days after police detained 16 people throughout the state for “terrorist assistance.”
“The state police are investigating several persons in Assam for sympathising with the Taliban,” stated chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
According to CM Sarma, the Assam police have only detained those “whose social media posts hint to violent inclinations.”
The Assam chief minister stated that the social media remarks that led to the arrests of 16 persons called for armed resistance.
