Assam: Clash over land dispute in Nagarbera; 9 injured

A land dispute in Nagarbera resulted in a clash that injured at least nine members of a family. According to reports, the altercation occurred on Wednesday night in Nagarbera’s Kalyanpur.

During the clash, nine members of a family were attacked with lethal weapons such as machetes and batons by their relatives.

Mizanur Rahman, Sanuwar Hussain, Akmal Hussain, Aftar Hussain, Alkaz Ali, Rahul Amin, Ikabul Hussain, Rashida Begum, and Morisful Nessa were among those injured.

They have been transferred to Guwahati’s GMCH for treatment. Sanuwar Hussain claimed that they were attacked late at night by their uncles and cousins for reasons unknown to them.

He claimed that his relatives, Motiur Rahman, Ataur Rahman, and Khairul Rahman, among others, barged into their home in the middle of the night and attacked them with machetes and batons. He also mentioned that they were outnumbered.

“There was no reason for them to attack us. We did have a land dispute but that was solved many days ago. I do not know, why they attacked us like this”, he said.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
