District Magistrate Biswajeet Pegu, by order, has declared January 19, January 20 and January 24 as dry days in Naharkatiya and Bamunbari areas in Dibrugarh district during the forthcoming Tengal Kachari Autonomous council’s election.

According to notification, sale of IMFL, illicit country liquor in clubs, hotels and shops and other establishments is prohibited. Violation of this order in any form by any individual, group or shop is liable to punish under Assam Excise Act.

Dry days are something that people definitely not looking forward to. On dry days, alcohol sale is banned through retail shops, bars, and hotels. These days can be any government holiday or state-level holidays due to elections, etc. Some states have state-specific holidays in which alcohol sale is banned.
