Assam: Five schools in Dibrugarh shut for a week after several Covid cases detected

Following the discovery of many Covid-19 instances at the institutions, the Dibrugarh district government has decided to close five schools for a week.

Dipika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools, Dibrugarh, issued an order closing five schools in Dibrugarh district for seven days after several Covid-19 positive cases were discovered on school grounds.

The schools include Nandeswar Chakravorty HS School in Dibrugarh (15 instances), Sepon Hatipati High School in Sepon (8 cases), Chachani Jamunamukh HS School in Chachani (9 cases), Tipling Girls High School in Tipling (11 cases), and Naharkatia HS School in Naharkatia (11 cases) (11 cases).

Dipika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools in Dibrugarh, issued the order on Friday. With approval from the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh, the school will reopen in 7 (seven) days.

On the other hand, due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in Dibrugarh district, the District Level Internal Examination Committee (DLIEC) has decided to postpone the upcoming Final and Pre-Board Examination, 2022 for Class IX & X, which was scheduled to take place on January 24, 2022, to a later date.

IS Choudhury issued a directive informing all schools that the revised Examination Schedule will be communicated shortly. In Dibrugarh on Thursday, 466 Covid-19 positive cases were discovered.
