Former Assam Chief Minister Bhumidhar Barman is at Dispur Hospital in Guwahati, Assam. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora accompanied by other leaders of the party visited the Ex-CM to inquire about his health on Wednesday.
At present the 89-year-old leader is in the intensive care unit of Dispur Hospital and is under treatment for old-age ailments.
The doctors said that he is slowly recovering and at present his condition is stable.
After the demise of former chief minister Hiteswar Saikia, Bhumidhar Barman became Assam’s chief Minister from 22 April to 14 May 1996.
He also took charge as the chief minister in 2010 when Ex-Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was undergoing a bypass surgery in the US.
During his tenure, Barman had been elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly for seven times.
As a cabinet minister he was also held portfolios of revenue and health and family welfare.
