Guwahati's Kamakhya Vidyalaya High School declared as micro-containment zone

Kamakhya Vidyalaya High School in Guwahati has been declared a micro-containment zone for 7 days by the Kamrup-Metro district administration in Assam.

The Principal of Kamakhya Vidyalaya High School had tested positive for Covid-19, resulting in the school’s isolation as a micro-containment zone. The principal of the school is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Guwahati.

The containment zone will be in effect from October 28 to November 4 according to an order issued on October 28 under the “Assam Covid -19 Regulations 2020.”

For the next seven days, the school will be closed to maintain public hygiene and prevent the virus from spreading further among the teaching staff and students.

Furthermore, on Thursday, most of the school’s teachers took the mandatory Covid –19 test, as directed by the Kamrup (Metro) district administration.

On Friday, the students and remaining teachers will be tested, according to a senior teacher at the school.

India reported 14,348 new cases in the last 24 hours. Death toll stands at 4,57,191. The country also reported 13,198 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the recovery rate at 98.19 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020. 1,04,82,00,966 vaccine doses have been administered so far.
