Kokrajhar Mandal arrested as part of ‘corruption crackdown’ in Assam

Kokrajhar Mandal, who works at the District Revenue Circle, was arrested on Monday by the police. Moidul Islam has been identified as the Mandal.

The crackdown initiative started by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in the state against corrupt officials is revealing corrupts that have been misusing their powers and government position demanding bribes from people.

Islam was allegedly caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5000. In addition, the Kokrajhar Mandals were found to be in possession of Rs 41,000.

According to police reports, 31 land brokers were arrested in Dhubri, 43 in Barpeta, 22 in Kamrup (M), 60 in Kamrup, 26 in Karimganj, 16 in Nagaon, 16 in Dibrugarh, 27 in Morigaon, 11 in Darrang, 17 in Bajali, and so on.

“Sri Moidul Islam working as Mandal at Kokrajhar Revenue Circle Office has been arrested red handed today by @KokrajharP while accepting a bribe of Rs.5000. An amount of Rs 41,000/ has also been seized from his possession,” Special DGP of Assam – GP Singh tweeted.

 

Following a complaint from Rajib Barman of Dholmara about a demand for money for a verification report from the revenue circle office, police were able to red-handed the lot mondal.

Barman approached the lot mondal for a verification report from the circle office, where Mohidul Islam accepted a bribe of Rs.5000.

The Lot Mondal was immediately apprehended by the police at his office. After being apprehended, lot mondal was taken to the Kokrajhar police station
