The Kokrajhar Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized contraband heroin-like substance worth more than Rs 20 lakhs from his possession. The suspect was apprehended in a joint operation by police and security forces near Baruapara in the bordering districts of Kokrajhar and Dhubri.

According to Surjit Singh Paneswar, Additional SP, an operation was carried out in the area based on specific inputs. During this operation, the police encountered a suspect who, when questioned, was discovered to be involved in alleged illegal contraband dealings.

Gul Hussain (19) of Hazaripara in the Dhubri district was identified as the suspect. Following a thorough investigation, the police discovered 186 vials of suspected heroin worth Rs 20 lakh in the international market.

He was immediately arrested from the spot and an investigation into the entire matter has been launched.
