On Monday night, another person accused of narcotics smuggling was hurt in police firing in Guwahati’s Gorchuk area. Taser Ali, the injured individual, is an accused in a drug smuggling and selling case.

On Monday, he was arrested for reportedly being involved in an international narcotics smuggling case. According to the authorities, Taser was involved in unlawful contraband activities and was conducting the criminal trades with his wife.

He was shot by police after allegedly attempting to flee from them during a site visit where he was supposed to show the police the location of other people participating in the trafficking. Taser was shot in the leg while fleeing the cops.

He was brought to the GMCH for treatment right away. His wife is on the police radar and could be arrested at any time.

It should be noted that Taser was apprehended for his role in a narcotics smuggling ring that was transporting illegal drugs from Manipur to Bangladesh.

The recent pattern of Assam Police officers shooting accused offenders in various regions of the state, as well as the police establishment’s and the chief minister’s defence of such instances, demonstrates dangerous politics.

According to news sources, at least 24 persons have been fired at by police since mid-May, when the new BJP government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma took power; five of them have died.

Each was supposedly in police custody when they were fired at, and the majority of their alleged crimes included robbery, drug dealing, cattle theft, and other similar offences.

In some cases, the police themselves stated that they only discovered previous criminal cases against the deceased after the fact.
