According to an order issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), no victory processions shall be allowed due to surge in COVID-19 cases, after counting to legislative assemblies of West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerela and Puducherry along with by-elections in various states on May 2, 2021.

The Commission added, “Not more than two persons shall be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her authorized representative to receive the certificate of election from the returning officer concerned”.
