Two large oxygen plants to generate oxygen have been set up in the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMC&H) campus. This will help the patients who undergo treatment at Medicine ICU, COVID ICU, and Central ICU to meet with their oxygen needs in the AMC&H.
Principal of AMC&H, Dr. Sanjib Kakoti and Superintendent Prasanta Dihingia said, “AMC&H now onwards can save a large amount of revenue as the authority earlier had to pay a substantial amount against the purchase of oxygen cylinders from markets”. They added, “The oxygen generated in the new plants will certainly take away the chronic problems of oxygen supply in the AMCH.”
With the support of the Union Government and supervision of the State Government, the development of the plants started in October 2020, stated the authority. By January 1, 2021 the plants were operational.
