According to a forest department official, two Royal Bengal tiger cubs were born on Monday at the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden in Guwahati, bringing the total number of Royal Bengal tiger cubs in the state to nine.
Tigress Kazi gave birth to two cubs on February 3rd, according to Dr. Ashwini Kumar of the Assam State DFO-Zoo, and both the mother and the baby are doing well.
Heaters were installed outside their cages, and dry straw was piled inside to keep them warm during the winter.
Previously, in August 2020, Kazi gave birth to two cubs named Sultan and Suresh. The zoo’s management has requested that the newborn cubs be named by Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya.
Amit Sahai, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), stated that Tigress Kazi is fed a nutritious diet.
He went on to say that with the arrival of the cubs, the zoo will be able to attract more visitors from now on.
According to a forest department official, special attention has been paid to hygiene and cleanliness in the cage to prevent disease transmission to the mother and her cubs.
