Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, Manipur University on Thursday announced that the university hostels would be closed as a preventive measure.
University Registrar Professor W Chandbabu Singh said that,’ The hostellers must vacate the hostels at the earliest’.
Earlier, the university also announced the postponement of the 1st and 3rd semesters examinations for BA, BSc, BCom, BSW and BTT. They were scheduled to commence on April 28, later he added.
Prof Ng Nimai Singh, in charge of the controller of examination of the university stated that, ‘A fresh schedule of the BA, BSc, BCom, BSW and BTT 1st and 3rd semesters examinations, 2020 shall be notified at least seven days before the commencement of the examination’.
Moreover, physical classes for students studying at Class 11 and 12 were also suspended with immediate effect. Besides, coaching centres, boarding and hostels in schools and private hostels accommodating students were also shut down immediately due to the current spike in COVID-19 cases in the state.
