Manipur: CM Biren Singh to be awarded ‘Honorary Degree’ by Dhanamanjuri University

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh will be conferred an ‘Honorary Degree’ for his outstanding contribution to society by the Dhanamanjuri University (DMU).

The Senate members of Dhanamanjuri University have taken the decision during the first Senate Meeting of the varsity held at Durbar Hal, Raj Bhavan in Imphal. The meeting was addressed by Governor Najma Heptulla, who is also the chancellor of the university.

During the meeting, the progress report of Dhanamanjuri University was given by Registrar Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam where he mentioned about the achievements. 

The University is recognized under section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956 and affiliated to the Association of Indian Universities and the students have been representing the University in various sporting tournaments at the university level, the Registrar said.

She further informed that the University is now listed in the National Testing Agency (NTA) website and some students of University have cleared UGC-NET Examination and registered to National Academic Depository (NAD).

The University has followed the Choice Based Credit System in PG programme since the 1st Academic Year and it collaborates with King Sejong Institute, South Korea to start a Korean language Study Centre and Certificate Programmes, she added.
