To extinguish the Dzukou valley wildfire in Nagaland, four Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers were deployed for service.
To control the widespread of the wildfire a team from the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), firefighters and local volunteers engaged on the ground.
From the past three days, the Indian Air Force chopper has been operating from Dimapur in Nagaland.
To the Manipur side of Dzukou Valley, 48 NDRF personnel were airlifted from Guwahati to Dimapur on Saturday. Around 200 firefighters of the state fire service are on the ground fighting against the fire.
The forest fire in the valley has been controlled to some extend by the state’s firefighters, however, the southern side fire is yet to be brought under control, according to officials.
The wildfire might have destroyed a large area of the forest by now, claimed officials of Nagaland and Manipur.
To control the forest fire in the valley, the Kohima forest division of Nagaland and the Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) also launched an operation.
To start off with the operation, 300-member team comprising of forest field staff, SAYO volunteers and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), district executive force (DEF), and 47th Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) reached the valley on December 31st 2020.
