Manipur: District Level Police Training on HT and child protection

A one-day of District level Police training held at Noney and Kangpokpi on 8th and 9th December 2020 in both the districts respectively. Training programme was on reinforcing Police retaliation in handling cases of Human Trafficking and child protection systems. The main reason behind this programme of training the police to make the mechanism strong to ensure protection of children as well combating trafficking of persons.

In the program the number of police officer was 28 and 34 who participated in Noney and Kangpokpi respectively.The programme was conducted as part of the project Mukti-an Anti Trafficking initiative to combat human trafficking and child sexual abuse in Manipur implemented with the support of ECPAT Luxembourg.

Mr Samir (MPS), Addl Superintendent of Police, Noney and Mr L Misao (MPS), Addl Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi were the chief guests of the respective programmes.

Mr. Wungreiso Shangh spoke about the rules and roles of the police as stated in the rules of Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of children) Act, 2015 and protection of children from sexual offences Act, 2012.

Mr. Wunfreiso also discussed about the common crimes of children and specially sexual abuse in the training programme of police. tille now the project has been able to train around 500 law enforcement agencies.A series of such training programs are planned to take place in other districts of Manipur.
