Manipur: Forest Department takes strong exception at Nestle India for an irresponsible act

In an ‘irresponsible act’ committed by Nestle India, the food and beverage giant, in the wrapper of its chocolate brand Kitkat, has mentioned that the Keibul Lamjao National Park (KLNP) is located in Meghalaya.

Following this the Manipur Forest Department, taking a strong exception has written to Suresh Narayanan CMD, Head Office Nestle House in Gurgaon.

The Manipur Forest Department in its letter to the Nestle, stated that the food and beverage giant has made a factual error on the wrapper of one of its chocolate brands.

Manipur principal chief conservator of forest Dr AK Joshi in his letter said that, ‘I am writing to you to point out a serious factual error regarding one of your products. We have come across a wrapping paper for KitKat chocolate which mentions the name of “Keibul Lamjao National Park” but indicates its location in Meghalaya, which is grossly incorrect’.

Moreover, the wrapper of the chocolate brand carries a picture of a red panda, which is not found in the KLNP.

‘This appears to be an irresponsible act on the part of Nestle company, which has apparently allowed this without verifying the facts’, Later Dr AK Joshi added.  The Manipur Forest Department has further asked Nestle to rectify the mistake immediately.
