CorCom has decided to boycott the upcoming 72nd Republic Day of India, and also has called for an 18 hour total shutdown all over the State from January 25 midnight till 6 pm of January 26 .
CorCom Publicity Committee in a statement said that the Republic Day is a time-to-time reminder to the people of ‘occupied’ Manipur (Kangleipak) for self-analysis.
It claimed that Manipur would no longer continue to exist if they remain in India for a longer duration as per the structure and shape of the Constitution of India.
Article 3 of the Indian Constitution authorizes the Government of India to change or re-draw the boundary of any State or Union Territory.
Based on this, a suspicion prevails among the people that Manipur may be divided into pieces at any moment, it said.
The Constitution allows special status and rights to different groups of people like Scheduled Tribe/Caste, ILP, Sixth Schedule, in the name of protection and development.
CorCom said that the Parliament has the power to make improvements in the Constitution any time which indicated that the Government may amend the Constitution according to their own.
It claimed that the Indian leaders have resolute to change India as a restricted country for Hindi-speaking people, as the parliament is occupied by MPs belonging to majority communities.
As per the Instrument of Accession signed between the Government of India and Kashmiri king Hari Singh on October 26, 1947, special rights were given to the people of Jammu& Kashmir. But they were removed a few years back and the State was bifurcated.
However, the international community and the masses could not do anything because of the responsibility of protecting the freedom of Kashmir lies with its people, it remarked.
Similarly, it is the responsibility of the people of Manipur, which became a part of India after king Bodhachandra signed the Instrument of Accession and the Merger Agreement, to liberate the Nation from the alleged Indian occupation.
The masses of Manipur won’t be able to be complacent just because the Indian Constitution which does not have any permanent characteristic provides some safeguards, the CorCom stated.
The indigenous population in different regions of WESEA has been buried under Immigrant population, which enjoys special safeguards like ILP, it said.
The Government of India is expected to work for development of Manipur as Manipur is now a part of India.
It claimed that though Manipur (Kangleipak) and WESEA has the potential to become the most developed regions in India after 50/100 years but it would be occupied by Hindi-speaking non-local people by then.
The only way to prevent extinction of the indigenous people is to struggle collectively and free them from the alleged Indian occupation, it asserted.
The CorCom requested the people of Manipur to refrain themselves from all daily activities, and stay at home during the 18 hours shutdown and boycott the Republic Day of India.
All Essential religious activities, medical and emergency services would remain unaffected from the shutdown, it added.
