From the state of Manipur, six players have been selected in the 28-member team for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.
The 28-member squad was announced by India football team Head coach Igor Stimac, on May 19, for the three upcoming matches in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers. The list includes six young footballers from Manipur.
The six players from Manipur are Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem (goalkeeper), Chinglensana Singh Konsham (defender), Udanta Singh Kumam (midfielder), Suresh Singh Wangjam (midfielder), Mohammad Yasir (midfielder) and Bipin Singh (midfielder).
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) said that the team left for Doha on May 19 and at present is under mandatory quarantine.
For the qualifiers, India will play three matches against Qatar on June 3, Bangladesh on June 7, and Afghanistan on June 15.
