Driver of Meghalaya home minister’s escort car suspended following accident

After an accident on January 13, the driver of an escort car for Meghalaya home minister Lahkmen Rymbui’s convoy was suspended. After the escort car collided head-on with a motorcycle in Williamnagar, one man was killed and another suffered serious injuries.

A Meghalaya police sub-inspector, who was in the same escort car, has also been suspended. According to the police, both the driver and the officer have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

“East Garo Hills SP has suspended driver constable Dimsrang Sangma and sub-inspector Kromith Marak until further orders,” the Meghalaya home department said.

In connection with the accident, a case has been filed. East Garo Hills District Executive Force owned the car that was involved in the accident (DEF).
