Meghalaya & Assam to Experience Heavy Rainfall over Weekend

Parts of Meghalaya and Assam are set to experience a rise in rainfall activity this weekend, as heavy rainfall has been forecast across the region on August 7-8.

According to the Weather Channel’s met team, the cyclonic circulation that has been present over Bangladesh for the past few days is likely to gradually move westwards.

Once it shifts away, moist southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will start moving into Northeast India, strengthening the rainfall activity over the region from Friday night to early next week.

The IMD has also issued a yellow watch over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for Thursday and Friday; over Assam and Meghalaya on Saturday; and over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on Sunday and Monday. The advisory asks the people to ‘be aware’ of the local weather situation.
