The BJP claimed that, as per an order of the Meghalaya High Court, it takes 17 members to form an executive committee, and objection will be raised  and the Governor will be apprised if 15 members  forms the committee.

“We are not in a hurry to be part of the new executive committee,” said Bernard Marak to the reporters on Saturday.

According to Marak the people want him to be the chief executive member (CEM) of the new executive committee (EC) in GHADC.

Marak replied when asked if he was approached by the BJP for the formation of the new executive committee, he said that anyone who wanted him to join the EC, he should be made the CEM.

Mawrie, claimed that the ruling of the High Court has made it clear that 17 members will form the executive committee and that “We will file an objection based on the ruling of the Court”.

Currently, GHADC has 29 members and the middle mark is 15 members. The Governor will nominate one member to make it a 30-member House.
