Meghalaya : Congress reviews statement of Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha as personal

Congress party MLA who represents North Karimganj, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha said not to implement ILP in the state. The opposition congress said that it was his personal view and was not made via consultation with the State Congress.

Umroi MLA George Lyngdoh said,“It is a personal view of the MLA. Every MLA or individual has the right to express their personal view we cannot tell him to keep quiet”.

“After the acceptance and enactment of the CAA, Congress has supported the ILP and taken a joint resolution in the State Assembly and we stand by it”, said Lyngdoh in reply to the attack on State Congress by Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong.

The State Congress takes note of the sentiments of the people.

“We need all measures. MRSSA, ILP – all measures to protect the state. ILP is one of the safeguard; that is why we support the ILP resolution and stand by it”, said Lyngdoh.
