Meghalaya : Fake Twitter accounts of state governor

Many fake Twitter accounts of Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik have came under notice over which a case has been registered and an investigation is being carried out, informed officials on Sunday.

They said, after Raj Bhavan undertook the issue with the Director-General of Police on Friday, the case got registered.

Eight fake Twitter accounts were submitted by Raj Bhavan secretary Pravin Bakshi which were created in the name of Malik. Bakshi stated, “The imposters posted derogatory and offensive materials which are prejudicial to the high office of the governor of Meghalaya and which in no way reflect his views”.

He added that for the purpose of cheating, and maligning the reputation of the governor the fake twitter accounts were created that are in violation of the Information Technology Act.

As per official reports on March 24th, Malik created a Twitter account with the username @SatyapalMalik6, which is his official Twitter handle.
