In Meghalaya, campaigns for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) election ended on Saturday. The polls will be held on April 12.
Congress star campaigner and leader of the opposition, former Chief Minister Mukul M Sangma was seen campaigning in the Plain belt area on the last day of the campaign.
Chief Minister and NPP in-charge Conrad K Sangma also campaigned in the Tura area.
Conrad highlighted the initiative and development of the Government, while Mukul focused on the corruption of the NDA Government led by NPP.
Other parties mentioned problems like financial leakage, corruption in GHADC, pending salaries, load shedding, frequent power cuts, power failure, government’s lack of interest towards the state and its people.
Both the NPP and the opposition Congress have placed its candidates from all the 29 constituencies, over five districts of the Garo Hills region.
There will be a direct face-off between Congress and NPP in most of the seats, with a few Independent seats GNC, BJP and UDP challenging them.
Around 182 candidates are competing from 29 constituencies, of which eight candidates are female and rest 174 are male candidates.
On April 12th , around 7,43,717 voters will decide the fate of the candidates. Counting of the votes will take place on April 15.
