Meghalaya : Govt cancels board exams of remaining subjects

The remaining four subjects of Class 12 board exams have been cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic, informed Meghalaya education minister Lahkmen Rymbui on June 23(Wednesday).

A review meeting was conducted on Wednesday after which Rymbui made the announcement.

Exams for computer science, vocational studies, western music and statistics were earlier scheduled on May 7, 10, 11 and 12, respectively.

However, the Class 10 board exams were held from April 19 to May 3, 2021.

A total of 92 candidates of Class 12 board exams missed out few subjects and 15 students were unable take all the subjects, informed Rymbui. The exams for these candidates will be conducted, he said.

Likewise, 74 candidates of Class 10 could not give exams of few subjects and 34 missed all the exams. The exams for these students might probably be held in the middle of July, the minister informed.

The method for conducting the exams will be chalked out soon, and the board will inform accordingly, stated Rymbui.

The education department will declare the results of Class 12 board exams before July 31.

The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE), will assess the students based on certain parameters, he added.

“The board will come up with some internal exam or do the evaluation based on practical exams or even computing the papers which they have already taken. The board will make the patter in the best interest of students,” Rymbui added.
