Meghalaya : Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui speaks on HNLC blast

Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui on the recently claimed IED blast in Star Cement premises in East Jaintia Hills has warned that the police would deal “very firmly if the HNLC tries to raise its head to disturb peace and harmony in the state”.

The Home Minister said that the police were investigating on the leads gathered, reacting to threat on multiple more blasts by HNLC in future.

The Home Minister said, “We cannot divulge anything at the moment. It is not only the state police but other organizations are also investigating on those leads”.

He Home Minister added, “We need to properly investigate if the HNLC was really responsible in this incident. The police will look at all possibilities to prevent the occurrence of this type of incident. We treat this kind of incident as criminal activities”.

The people were apprehended who claimed about the blast at Shallang in West Khasi Hills.

The banned organization HNLC, can initiate for peace talks. “It will happen only through mutual understanding,” he said.

Since November last year, after the notification to ban the HNLC was issued, the Centre made no communication with the state, Rymbui clarified.

Rymbui concluded, “Whatever tax is levied it is only by duly authorized and empowered by law and not beyond the law,”.
