Meghalaya : ILP talks between BJP and Kiren Rijiju

To discuss about the implementation of the Inner-Line Permit (ILP) and National Games 2022, the state BJP will meet Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju on Monday.

Kiren Rijiju will be inaugurating the first-ever sports school of the Northeast at the Assam Rifles Public School in Laitkor.

State BJP chief Ernest Mawrie told, “Our meeting with the Union Minister is in the second half of the day and we are going to discuss issues of development and also the demand for implementing the ILP in the state and National Games 2022”.

Mawrie said that the Meghalaya Assembly had passed a resolution, and they will try hard to draw Delhi’s attention towards the issues prevailing in Meghalaya.

December 27th, a meeting on the ILP was done with the party’s Northeast in-charge Ajay Jamwal and other leaders by the state BJP in Guwahati, he said.

Mawrie said, “Since he is acquainted with the Northeast and has been in charge of our state, he knows the political situation”. He added that the issue will be notified to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The ILP issue needs to be taken to Shah, Janwal suggested.

“We want to know from him (Rijiju) how much has been sanctioned for Meghalaya although we have read his statements”, said the state BJP chief on National Games 2022.

To host National Games 2022 will be a “great opportunity” for the state as it would involve construction of playgrounds, indoor stadiums and other infrastructure funded by Delhi, said Mawrie.

“We will request him to help with the funds for the smooth, successful conduct of the games,” he added.
