Shillong will undergo partial lockdown from April 25(Sunday) due to rise in COVID-19 cases. The district administration has intensified restrictions in the East Khasi Hills from Sunday.
All shops has been ordered to be closed by the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate expect for pharmacies in the city from Monday till May 2.
On Saturday, the residents were seen panic buying in different markets of the city especially in Iewduh even after announcement from the district administration and traders were made regarding sufficient amount of food supply in the city.
The open market traders dealing in essential commodities were directed by the DC to put up price cum stock boards in their shops to avoid any hoarding and over charging.
Order for shutting of shops selling non-essential items has been extended by the EKH District Magistrate from Monday in areas falling under Mylliem C&RD Block from 7th Mile, Upper Shillong up to Mylliem-Bah, Madan Ing Syiem and Mylliem including Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka and Lawsohtun.
The East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has allowed bookstalls to operate in a staggered manner across the city on April 26, 28 and 30 from 8 am till 9 pm.
