Meghalaya : Power cuts affects Industrial units

Due to power cuts by MeECL for upto 10 hours from Saturday, several industrial units in Ri Bhoi and Jaintia Hills districts were affected and will continue to remain affected for some more time.

After Tripura-based Palatana thermal plant was closed for maintenance, up to 205 million units of daily energy shortages is expected.

The official informed, three sub-stations at Mawlai, Mustem and Nongalbibra in Meghalaya are also undergoing maintenance.

MeECL CMD Arunkumar Kembhavi stated, “As an emergency measure, we will divert the available power from industrial areas to domestic consumers to ensure that people do not suffer”.

Kembhavi said the planned three-hour load shedding might extend up to six hours.
