Umling entry point witness 4k registration

The newly-inaugurated entry-exit point at Umling in Ri Bhoi saw 4000 registrations, said Tourism Department officials on Monday.

Proper documents were submitted by all the people, said the police.

The Meghalaya Residents’ Safety and Security Act authorized the facilitation centre or entry-exit point on December 21.

Any person, who wishes to visit Meghalaya, should register himself or herself with the state government.

There is a Tourism Department app available on Google Play Store for android device and the App store for apple device where the tourists need to register themselves.

At the Umling facility there is a help desk, a counter for pre-registered visitors/tourists having COVID-free certificate, a counter for new registration for visitors, tourists etc, a counter for testing area for travelers without COVID free certificate, a report-collection center, an isolation room, a counter for VIP/emergency, an infiltration cell and cafeteria/canteen area.

The government plans to construct two more entry-exit points at Bajengdoba and Ratacherra.
