On Friday 14 January, a woman’s body was discovered in her vegetable garden in the Lawngtai district of Mizoram, in a shocking incident. Police suspected gang rape in the dead women’s body and they also believe it is a murder case.
The incident is said to have occurred in the village of Nghalimlui, which is located in the Lawngtai district of Mizoram’s northeastern state. Mizoram’s Lawngtai district is located in the southern part of the state.
Sadin Mela, 41, a resident of Nghalimlui village, was later identified as the deceased woman, according to reports. She was Sushil Kumar’s wife.
Sadin has been missing since the 6th of January 2022, according to reports. Since then, her friends, relatives, and close friends have been looking for her.
Her body was discovered dead in her vegetable garden, 14 kilometres from her home and close to a river, after a lengthy search.
According to police officials, she had major cuts in her head that were caused by a pointed weapon.
According to the police, the woman’s dead body was discovered without underwear and with injuries to her private parts, implying that she was raped before being brutally murdered.
Other details about the case, including the cause of death, are unknown to police and other sources.
Meanwhile, Lawngtai police have launched an extensive investigation into the incident in order to determine the exact cause of death.
It’s worth noting that Mizoram is regarded as one of the Indian states with the lowest rates of female-related crime.
In comparison to other states in the country, the number of cases of crimes against women reported in Mizoram is much lower, with only 33 cases reported in 2020.
