Mizoram : 30% reduction in school admission fees

The admission fees in all government schools would be reduced by 30% for students taking admission in class-XI, informed Mizoram Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte.

Recently, results of class-10 were declared and due to the hardship faced by parents and students during the pandemic, the minister declared the decision of fees concession. 

Education Minister Ralte addressed a felicitation programme at the Government Mizo Higher Secondary School in Aizawl on June 7(Monday). Ralte said, “In view of the tough times face by Mizoram due to Covid-19 pandemic, the state government has decided to reduce admission fees for class-XI students seeking admission in government higher secondary schools, adhoc aided higher secondary schools, lumpsum aided higher secondary schools and deficit higher secondary schools, which receive regular grants from the government.”

The private schools were also asked to reduce their admission fees due to the hardship faced by the people during the ongoing pandemic. 

The parents were requested to admit their children in government schools as qualified teachers also run them without charging any tuition fees. 

The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) announced the results for class-10 examinations on June 3. The examinations were conducted in offline mode during the month of April, under strict Covid-19 protocols.

7 schools which includes one government school, could not get a single student pass in the class-X board examinations, over which Ralte informed that a show cause notice has been served to the schools for their failure.
