Prema Ranjan Chakma joined the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) after resigning from BJP on Monday.
For the saffron party in Mizoram, resignation of former Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) councilor came as a setback.
Chakma said, “The public is disillusioned about the BJP’s plans and policies in the CADC. There is so scope for the party’s growth here”.
The promises made by the party were failed to be kept, that were made during the council elections and state assembly elections in 2018, he said.
Among the promises made, pre-poll by BJP’s central leaders, relating to direct funding, 6th schedule amendment to uplift the district council powers, etc. none has been fulfilled.
Chakma praised MNF government party’s policies and actions that shows its genuine concern for the development and empowerment of the masses.
