Mizoram deputy chief minister and Mizo National Front (MNF) senior vice president Tawnluia has been tested positive for novel coronavirus on 8th May(Saturday) through Rapid Antigen Test, informed an official.

Tawnluia is 77- year-old and is placed under home isolation suffering mild symptoms.

Tawnluia holds portfolios like public health engineering, urban development and poverty alleviation, and animal husbandry and veterinary in the prevailing Zoramthanga’s cabinet.

He was the former commander-in-chief of the disbanded Mizo National Army (MNA) between 1966-1986.

Tawnluia was elected from the Tuichang assembly constituency during the 2018 assembly polls.
