Mizoram: Durjya Dhan Chakma resigns as CEM of Chakma Autonomous District Council

Durjya Dhan Chakma of the Mizo National Front (MNF) has resigned as the incumbent Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Mizoram’s Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), the second CEM to quit in the last six months, according to official sources.

Rasik Mohan Chakma, the MNF’s leader, has willingly resigned from his position as CEM on March 29. Duryya Dhan Chakma, who took over as CEM on April 6, presented his resignation to the governor on Sunday, according to Prabin Chakma of the council’s communications and public relations department.

On September 30, at least ten council members filed a FIR against Durjya Dhan Chakma and presented a petition to the chairman of the council, requesting Chakma’s dismissal for abuse of power and defamation of the council’s reputation.

On September 30, a separate FIR was filed against Durjya Dhan Chakma for allegedly sexually molesting a woman. Durjya Dhan Chakma, on his part, stated he freely resigned as CEM for the sake of the council and the MNF party.
