Mizoram Govt devised strategies to resolve Border Dispute with Assam

On Thursday, state home minister Lalchamliana informed the state legislature that the Mizoram government has already “conceived” strategies and is making “massive efforts” to resolve the long-standing border dispute with Assam.

In 2018, the state government formed a core committee to study and assess the state boundary, he said. In 2019, he said, the core committee was re-established under the chairmanship of state chief secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaunog.

“The core committee is currently collecting topo-sheets and important documents related to the state border with Assam,” Lalchamliana said in response to a question from opposition Congress Legislature Party leader Zodintluanga Ralte. According to him, the state government has already appointed a nodal officer on the border and submitted a report to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, as directed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
