Mizoram : Govt extends partial lockdown in state for 7 more days

The prevailing lockdown alike restrictions in Aizawl along with 10 others district headquarters has been extended by the Mizoram Government for another 7 days due to COVID-19 situation.

The partial lockdown was expected to be called off at 4 am on Monday. 

The Mizoram government issued the order stating that the ongoing restriction has been extended for another seven days and the guidelines with minor changes will continue to remain in force till 4 am of May 3.

The order read, “Considering the extant guidelines laid down for the prevention and containment of the disease outbreak vis-à-vis the trend of the disease transmission and the case detection rate, it is also the considered view of the competent authority to continue with the current restrictions on people’s movement and activities, except essential services, for expeditious and efficient testing, tracking and treatment of COVID-19 positive patients and to scale up immunization,”. 

According to the guidelines, people in the state capital and other district headquarters should refrain from stepping out of their homes and no vehicles should ply during the restricted period except the exempted ones.

The Lengpui airport and inter-state border will however remain open and intra-state movement will continue. 

Pharmacies, shops selling essential commodities, eateries, vegetables, meat, construction materials and spare parts in Aizawl and district headquarters are allowed to open with arrangement provided by local leaders and volunteers like Local Level Task Force(LLTF) or Village Level Task Force (VLTF), it said. 

Filing stations, motor workshops, cold storage and warehousing, data and call centres, carpentry workshops, steel fabrication workshops, bakeries, tailoring shops, weaving shops and other related shops will also remain open.

Religious places, educational institutions, public parks, picnic spots, movie theatres, gymnasiums, community halls, restaurants, shopping complexes, malls and other amusement places will remain shut.

Other than exempted public gatherings, no other unauthorized gatherings will be allowed in the state. The ongoing night curfew in Aizawl and 10 others district headquarters will continue from 8:30 pm to 4am.
