A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the Mizoram Police to look into the forest fire incident, which broke out in the state’s southern district. A case has been registered in connection with the incident, informed a senior police officer on Wednesday.

A special investigation team, led by a Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Lunglei district has been formed on Tuesday, informed Mizoram Inspector of General Police (Headquarters), John Neihlaia. The team will look into the wildfire case in Lunglei district since it is suspected that it was a man-made disaster.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, he said.

The team has already initiated its investigation and no suspect has been taken under custody till Wednesday, said Lunglei district Superintendent of Police (SP) Rex Zarzoliana Vanchhawng.
