R Lalzirliana(71), Mizoram’s Power and Electricity Minister tested COVID-19 positive along with his wife Lalthangmawii (59) on Tuesday, informed an official.

State spokesperson for Covid-19 and state nodal officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) Dr. Pachuau Lalmalsawma informed that they were diagnosed with Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test on Tuesday. He informed that the minister’s son Vanlalruatfela Ralte is also under Covid-19 treatment after he was found positive on May 8. All of them are under home isolation.

Lalzirliana informed about no symptoms of Covid-19 in his body, although his wife had a mild fever.

“I swear to myself I will fight this Covid-19 in a manly manner.  I and my son have no symptoms of Covid-19 but only my wife has a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit,” he said.

Under the present Mizo National Front (MNF) government led by chief minister Zoramthanga, Lalzirliana holds arts and culture, land resources, soil and water conservation, and district council and minority affairs portfolios.
