Mizo National Front (MNF) announced on Monday that announced that their candidate for the Serchhip Assembly seat will be party’s treasurer Vanlazawma, said a party leader.
The meeting of party nomination committee was headed by party president and chief minister Zoramthanga who selected the party treasurer and former Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP), Vanlazawma as the candidate for the Serchhip seat, said MNF adviser and Rural Development Minister, Lalruatkima.
After Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo disqualified Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma, the Serchhip seat remained vacant. 12 MNF legislators filed complaint that he won the Serchip seat under the Anti Defection Law.
The date for the by-poll to Serchhip seat is still to be announced by the election commission.
