Mizo National Front leader Mohan Chakma has been elected as the Chairman of the Chakma Autonomous District Council in Mizoram on Wednesday.

Since no other members of the constitutional body filed nominations for the post, Chakma got elected as the new chief of the council, as per sources.

Chakma is a replacement to H Amaresh Chakma. Amaresh was abolished from the post via a no-confidence motion on March 26.

With a ticket of MNF from Parva constituency, Chakma contested succesfully in the council polls in April 2018.
