Mizoram Sports Minister pays visit to Khelo India State Centre of Excellence

The Khelo India State Centre of Excellence at RG Sports Stadium was visited by Mizoram Sports Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte on Wednesday morning. The centre was launched on Tuesday along with seven other such Centres in seven states across the country.

Officials of the Sports & Youth Services Department and representatives of various sports associations accompanied the Minister on his visit. They considered starting the centre as the earliest.

The undergoing Outdoor Gym construction at R. Dengthuama Hall near the Centre and the Aizawl Indoor Stadium at Republic Venthlang locality was also visited by him.

For the development of Boxing, Weightlifting leh Judo, the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence has been allocated at the initial stage. Around 300 sportspersons are expected to be trained in these disciplines. An amount of Rs. 225.75 has been allocated for the Centre, and it is expected to be operational from January 2021.
