The Myanmar military was blamed for staging a coup on Friday by Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZORO). They demanded restoration of democracy in Myanmar.
ZORO is a Chin-Kuki- Mizo-Zomi group organization which aims at re-unification of all Zo people under one administrative unit.
The organization stood in solidarity with the Zo or Mizo descendants (Zofate) of Myanmar who were affected by the military coup.
In a statement the organization said, “The hardships and sufferings of Zo descendants in Myanmar are the sufferings of all Mizo tribes in the world. We are ever ready to assist our Mizo brothers and sisters in the restive country”.
It claimed that the Zo brothers and sisters around the world stand for the “Zofate” of Myanmar.

The Zo descendants in Myanmar have been victim of extreme suffering under military regime for decades, said the organizatoion.
It said, “ZORO will not betray the Zo tribes in Myanmar and will extend all possible helps to deliver them from their suffering”.
The organization demanded the military to give power to the people in Myanmar.

Many Mizo or Zo tribes reside in Myanmar, mainly in Chin state.

Previously on Wednesday, a sit-in demonstration was staged by the state’s apex student body Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) in solidarity to the Mizo communities in Myanmar.
On February 1, Myanmar military- Tatmadaw declared
A year-long state of emergency was declared on February 1 by Myanmar military- Tatmadaw. Elected members of Myanmar’s ruling party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), including Aung Sang Suu Kyi were detained by them.
The incident took place a day before the Parliament of Myanmar was scheduled to swear in the members that were elected at the November 2020 general election.
